I went for a simple blood sugar test today and when they pricked my finger twice because the couldn't get a reading the first time, they said something was going on in my body - it could be a tumor, or my thyroid? This is now concerning me very much, so I'll go for further tests soon. I haven't been feeling very well lately either. Please pray I receive all positive results. Thank you.

Dear God, I believe you are working on my miracle. I have never asked anything from you before today and have thanked you for everything. But today for the first time I am asking for a miracle. I love him too much. You sent him to me when I wanted my soulmate. Please do not let his family snatch him away from me. Please get us both together since we love each other and it was YOUR wish we be together.
I beg of you God, hear my prayers and grant me miracle and get him back to me by this month. I cannot take the pain of separation anymore and neither can I see him so sad.

Our 1yr old son Paolo Icarus was diagnosed last February 2008 as having a rhabdomyosarcoma (a fast growing, highly malignant tumor in his urinary bladder). He has undergone sessions of chemotherapy & 2 major operations. Thanks God that the mass was successfully removed last June 2008. His treatment is until March 2009. Please help us pray for his complete healing.

I can remember being a senior in high school when it happened. It was a beautiful, quite September day in my hometown on Long Island. My Dad, who also happened to be the Fire Cheif of our town at the time dropped me off at school in his red Tahoe bearing the five chief bugles which for me always symbolized his true selfless leadership and heroism. It was also his birthday. He dropped me off in front of my high school and playfully put on the sirens and flashed the lights to embarrass me. It never did... I thought it was funny. I was too proud of my dad to care. It was first period. My government class was almost over and my teacher received a phone call from the main office. Her husband worked in the World Trade Center but had somehow managed to get in touch with some family memebers who relaid the message to my school, and my teacher... his new wife. We then turned on the tv in my classroom. I saw the second plane hit. I can remember some of my classmates hunched over their desks in amazement, some in sheer terror. Too many of their parents, aunts, uncles and even siblings worked there. Too many of them were also city firemen, police officers or port authority cops. I can remember my teacher allowing all of us to use our cellphones to call whomever we needed to to get updates of loved ones. I tried to console my two friends, Justin and Katina... both of whom had parents in the towers. We left school the next period and watched the towers fall live on television. Going back to school for the afternoon was absolutely gut-wrenching. People moved about as though they were zombies. It was nothing like I had ever seen. All after school sports were cancelled. I went straight home to find my mom... not my dad. She told me that my dad had joined a volunteer crew of Nassau County Fire Chiefs who were sent first into Shea Stadium and then told to move into the Brooklyn and Queens houses as backup... because they had already responded to the disaster. They then sent my dad on a smaller crew which reached the World Trade Center later that afternoon. He started digging. There are just some things that a person sees in their lifetime can't ever bare sharing with their loved ones. My dad doesn't talk about what he saw. He was down there without a mask, looking for survivors... people he didn't even know. He wanted to help. He did tell me that later that night (or perhaps it was even early the next morning...) he had managed to find himself in the triage center of a nearby hospital. When a nurse heard that it was my dad's birthday, she found a Hostess cupcake in a vending maching, rolled up a piece of papertowel, set it ablaze and sang happy birthday to him. I didn't see him for two more days. He still doesn't talk about what happened there and maybe he never will. He lost brother firefighters that day... especially a handful of guys who were instructors at the local fire academy here on Long Island, where my dad has been a volunteer for almost thirty years. I am lucky to have my dad here today. Too many innocent people perished in the horrible attacks on September 11th but we must remember to honor their memories and celebrate life so as not to let their tragics deaths be remembered in vain. There is good in the world. I saw it in my father who volunteered to go help with the search and rescue that day. I saw it in a nation that banded together in such a way that will never, ever be forgotten. Five years later, all grown up and graduated from Holy Cross... I am glad to be back home to remember this day with my family... something I had never been able to do for the past four years while in Worcester. God Bless all those who were touched by these tragic events and may God continue to allow the noble and just to prevail over evil.
