We, all of us, are being called to do something unprecedented. We are being called to think about "everything that is," for we now know that everything is interrelated and that the well-being of each is connected to the well-being of the whole. This suggests a "planetary agenda" for all the religions, all the various fields of expertise.

I often try to imagine how a mother, like me, with her children is facing the conditions in her country, or region or town. I imagine rationing meager portions, because there isn't enough to feed each of the children, or hiding behind drawn curtains to avoid notice from police or para-military. I imagine the fear of watching a daughter thirst for knowledge and freedom when she courts danger just by being young and female. I imagine their laughter and exasperation at watching their children squabble, wrestle and play. Sometimes, I simply want to hug these moms of my imagination, who are scattered all over the planet. Hopefully, it is good to share motherhood with all the moms in this big club of ours; creatures creating in the palm of the creator.
