Voluntary Simplicity - "A manner of living that is outwardly more simple and inwardly more rich. To live more voluntarily is to live more deliberately, intentionally and purposefully - in short, it is to live more consciously. The objective of voluntary simplicity is not to dogmatically live with less, but is the more demanding intention of living in balance in order to find a life of greater purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction."
Duane Elgin (Voluntary Simplicity)

What would be the next steps I could take to simplify my life? How might this help me draw closer to God and others? How would a simpler lifestyle influence my priorities and goals?

When I was teaching in Colorado another teacher, Arun Dass whose parents were from India, taught me to question everything I purchased. Do I need this or is it clutter? My Mom taught me, "Make do with what you have and use nature for decorating for Christmas etc. It's a beginning.

In Gaudium Et Spes 22 it states “This likeness reveals that man, who is the only creature on earth which God willed for itself, cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself.” This likeness is the unity of the Trinity that we are called to in our relationships. I think the next step would be to prioritize my life so that I become more giving instead of seeking to get "things". I will not find fulfillment in possessions but in relationship. As I live this I will live more simply.
